A refresh of Google’s free email service GMail is likely to be available soon, although it will not be a complete upgrade, Google has confirmed.
Rumours of a new GMail surfaced on the web last week after plans were reportedly leaked. However, Google insisted that the changes would not constitute an entirely new version.
Google has not created a new version of GMail since its launch in 2004, even though rivals Yahoo Mail and Microsoft Windows Live Hotmail recently upgraded their services.

I am anxious to see the new features that Google ads. I just upgraded an old Yahoo account to their new beta email version and they have a split screen where you can view your messages. This was nice for quickly looking at emails to clear my inbox. I still however prefer gmail overall. I’m sure this upgrade will feature something similar.

Not sure if everyone noticed, but for Adsense Publishers, Google has “shrunk” the size of the clickable ads, so only the URL and the Headline will register as a click. They’ve done this to improve the quality of the CTR. They’ve done it for a) Publishers, b) Google.com, HOWEVER they haven’t done it for GMAIL ads - they’re still running the larger clickable areas. Do you think that they’ll fix this in the new Gmail system?
