Gmail has a new architecture that improves the performance and the usability. Now you can use the back button in your browser and bookmark URLs from different Gmail views because the URLs change when you go to a different section. The messages are prefetched when Gmail loads so you don’t have to wait too much until a message is displayed.

What have you done to the look of my gmail. I hate it. It has all this stuff in the way, I don’t chat and don’t want to use chat.
I noticed about the new version of Gmail too. But I have a few gmail accounts. I was wondering why only one of my account is being upgraded only. The other 2 have no change at all.
i some what like the new version but i think you should make a version that lets you decorate you home page like they do with yahoo!
I agree with cassie. You would think Google would be just a little more creative and let you decorate the page as you see fit. But, you have to keep in mind, Google is successful because it IS so simple. Maybe on down the road we’ll see this happen.
I have also noticed that search is a pain now. What happened to I will “Google it” can’t do that anymore.
I can’t even get into my Gmail account at the moment but I agree with the others, why are Google’s tools always so dull looking?
Tara.
For Alex, if you use firefox, you could install the “customize google” extension (http://www.customizegoogle.com). It allows to, for example, to hide the number of messages in the spam folder, hide ads and much more.
One question, is there hope to have an ldap server for gmail accounts? (i use thunderbird with GCALdaemon and IMAP account)
You can reverse it if you don’t like it, they give you an option somewhere on your gmail page. I reversed it, my font in my left bar was so huge and the page looked ugly. Just wanted to let you know that you can go back to the old one

Have a great weekend.
I can’t seem to compose mail from my “groups” from the new version. Anybody else have the same problem?
