Google Talk’s been integrated into many Gmail accounts by now, and while it’s pretty neat, the chat popup that appears any time you rollover someone’s name could drive anyone batty.
Happily Google expert Garett Rogers provides a Greasemonkey user script that disables the popup without having to shut off the chat feature entirely. Useful! Free download, Firefox and Greasmonkey only.

With GetByMail you can stay at home and have access to your office computer and vice versa simply through your e-mail account. You can get remote directory listings and tree view, download/upload files and directories, perform change dir, make dir, rename and delete operations, capture remote computer desktop screens, run remote applications, shutdown, reboot and logoff remote computer. Let’s say you need to sign up for a mailing list that interests you, but you’re afraid spammers might get your address. We’ll call the list “exoticflowers”.
Sign up with the list using the address “johndoe+exoticflowers@gmail.com”. Email to that address will still come to your “johndoe@gmail.com” address even though the “To:” will include that “+exoticflowers” in it.
Then set up Gmail filters to shuttle that +exoticflowers email past the inbox to a specific label.

This is a fairly simple and useful trick to score yourself a gigabyte’s worth of free online file storage. If you already have a Gmail account, you can use it as a central file server that is accessible from anywhere you can access Gmail. If you don’t have a Gmail account… read on. We’re going to install a shell extension that will allow you to mount your Gmail account as a virtual drive on your desktop, so you can perform basic file manipulation operations without having to go through the web-based interface. Drag and drop, batch copy, create folders and delete files as you normally would in Windows Explorer, and be able to access your virtual drive from virtually anywhere.
There are some limitations and caveats associated with this how-to: Gmail doesn’t support files larger than 10MB, so you won’t be able to store large movie files or anything, but you wouldn’t be doing that anyway ‘cuz it’s illegal, right? Also, the Gmail drive shell extension only functions under Windows XP, but you’ll be able to access and download any of your files via any operating system and browser combination supported by Gmail.
Be advised that this trick is completely unsupported by the Google folk and so may cease functioning at any time — particularly following upgrades to the Gmail service. As far as we know this isn’t illegal (we actually read the EULA for you — that’s love, people), but we can’t guarantee Google won’t go all RIAA on us and crack down on this app, either, so use at your own risk.

I’m sorry but G2G Share is now closed.
Google has let me know that this website is against their policy and I don’t want any problems with Google.Rest in peace G2G
Well after 2 days downtime, G2G is back online at a new domain: g2gshare.net!
There’s a lot of changes in the code, mostly non-visual. But you may notice the new userlist for the browse-page. The filelist and userlist at the search page will also be in this format soon. Also the new version of G2G will have full unicode support (no more weird characters in filenames or such)
Finally I have the idea that G2G is now a bit stable. If you had any problems with the website, I suggest you try now.
Beta test plan goes this server out of limits…
G2G is offline for the moment due high bandwidth-usage and I’m working at the next version. It’ll get online within a few hours.
G2G Exchange is getting very populair and my bandwidth is growing faster then I could expect…
I’m looking for sponsers…
G2G Exchange 0.7 soon online
G2G Exchange!
G2G is a website where you can easily share files, which are at your Gmail, with each other.
You register at the website with your Gmail login data and your Gmail account will be indexed. After that everyone can see your files (including support for only the files you want them to see) and download/email them without ever knowing your login data.
You can download a file from the website or “download” it directly to your Gmail account.
Finally you can use/share those gigabytes without any trouble!
How can I upload files?
You can just go to Gmail.com, choose ‘Compose email’ and upload it from there. Or you can use tools like Gmail Drive or RoamDrive or GetByMail. Please note that Gmail only supports 20mb (19mb effective due overhead) per email.
I don’t like giving my Gmail login data away
All login data are custom encoded and saved in the database. No one will know it. However we recommended that you create a new account for G2G.
What about files which are bigger than 20mb?
With compression programs like WinRAR, 7zip, you can compress these files and make them smaller. If they are still too large, you can split it in multiple files. G2G will recognize these files and display them as one complete file.
I don’t want to share all files at my Gmail account(s)
At your options page, you can adjust your settings to only index files with one or more specific labels. Then you go to your Gmail and give only files that you want to share, that label.
How can I sort my files at G2G?
G2G will automatic recognize labels and use them as ‘directories’ if someone browses through your files. Just login at your Gmail and create a label and give the attachments a label.
Why isn’t my new file showing up in my filelist at G2G?
Your files will be in the database of G2G after you index your account. However this is heavy process and that is why it is only automatically done every 24 hours.
How can I report any bugs?
Please email to g2g@dutchmega.nl if you have found a bug. Please report what you were doing, your accountname and errorcode.
How can I suggest any features?
Just email us.
What is automatic indexing?
Everyone’s filelists change but it won’t change at G2G realtime. Thats why every account needs to be indexed. Automatic indexing will index every account every 6 hours. However for the time being, it’s disabled.
How can I add/edit/remove Gmail accounts?
Try the Options page.
How can I remove my G2G account?
Email to g2g@dutchmega.nl with your username and password.
Like most other prime search engines, the ability to freely giveaway an email account is a positive tool that signals to the user community that this search engine is here to stay! Google is no different in this approach. Recently, Google has been beta testing Gmail. Google’s very own email services repository. Best of all, it’s free! Well, it’s going to be free, its currently available only in Beta mode, if you are lucky enough to have received an invitation to sign up for a complimentary account you currently enjoy the benefits of ubiquitous Gmail.
Found at gmail.google.com, users were at a frenzied pace to secure the names and aliases that may be snatched up once the floodgates were open. People are exclusively invited to partake in the beta testing were selling their names and invitations for quite a handsome sum on eBay. Most users will have to wait until Gmail goes live before actually trying it out. However with all the functionality at a price like this, how could anyone refuse?
Unlike MSN and Yahoo! Google’s approach to space was a little more liberal. Google provides 1000 MB of storage space so you would never have to worry about limited space requirements. All messages are displayed intact as well as the replies. Messages can be searched upon as well. Google’s approach was to give as much flexibility to the user so the user in turn would use only Google.
Much like the anti-pop up ad theory of The Google Toolbar, there will be an anti-Spam product built into Gmail that will help thwart out unsolicited email.
Currently, new users can ask for a preview address from Google, although there is no guarantee they will get one. Interested parties should go to http://gmail.google.com/gmail/help/about.html and fill in their email addresses at the bottom of the page.

Markets are conversations, sales are inherently chaotic.
I’m tired of using slow enterprise CRM solutions
I have some experience in sales
I used some expensive CRM solutions (siebel, microsoft crm, salesforce.com…)
I agree with some ideas of cluetrain, GTD and 37 Signals Basecamp.
I saw a lot of “how-to use gmail as” anything
This will be my how-to use gmail as a CRM!
Gmail is the best user interface I can find on the net. It is quick, flexible. Gmail also supports “plus-addressing” of emails. Messages can be sent to addresses in the form: gmail.user+extratext@gmail.com where extratext can be any string, very useful for auto applying labels.
Gmail gives you thee dimensions in order to manage your customer relationships,
label, priority and time. Gmail offers you have three sharp instruments: filter, label and search.
I’ll tell you soon as I use them.
